The Children’s Writers group is for those who write in all genres of children’s literature from board books to Young Adult, both fiction and non-fiction. While we are mainly a critique group, we often have beginner writers, so we offer information on topic such as the elements of writing, developing characters, structuring plot, writing query letters, and many more. A typical meeting consists of critiques, a “lesson” on a topic of interest to the current group, writing to prompts, and having fun!

There are no monthly “requirements,” such as a certain number of pages, but we do expect regulars to be serious about writing, willing to bring your work to be critiqued, and willing to critique others in a constructive and sensitive way. There are no meanie-heads allowed in our playground!

While we love visitors, please call or email Christine before arriving in order to insure that we are meeting as scheduled. You are welcome to visit one or two times to see if we are a good fit for you, but please understand that in fairness to those who do pay their dues that we will not critique your work unless you are a full member of WGOT.
