Linne Black
NSAI Regional Director

Linne Black is workshop coordinator of the NSAI songwriters chapter in Winston-Salem. A North Carolina songwriter and performer, Linne co-wrote six songs on Susan Lea's recent CD "Just a Little Bit of Love," and two songs recorded by Melanie Ayers on her "Live at the Crazy Horse" album. Her songs have been recorded by Mickey Gilley, Barbi Benton, Tommy Overstreet, Brenda Pepper, Mike Wells and Billy Crash Craddock. Signed to RCA as an artist/writer, she has been produced by Chet Atkins. Currently, she has songs published by Maypop, Vintage, Millhouse Music (Polygram), Equinox and Abear Publishing in Nashville; by Embassy Music in New York; and by Lyn Ashley and Aliso Conejo Music in California. Her "other life" is Registered Nurse (Neonatal ICU).

Workshop topics may include creative writing exercises, rules and techniques of songwriting and musical composition, how to professionally pitch your songs, and the business of music publishing.

Workshop attendees will also have a monthly opportunity to perform their songs and to receive feedback and constructive critique designed to help them improve their craft and skills. This is a great opportunity to "test" your new lyrics before like-minded songwriters who can tell you honestly what they feel "works" and "doesn't work" for them. Your lyrics are returned with the comments for you to take home and determine which ones are valid for you and your song. Plan on bringing a dozen copies of your lyrics, as well as a CD of your song or a cassette tape, unless you choose to perform the song yourself. In that case, bring your guitar or best "voice".
